3.5/5.0I knew I should have written this review before I continued the series! But, I wanted to know what happens next and didn't want to stop.. Needless to say,I am LOVING this series! I know that many complain that it is too much like the Kate Daniels series but that doesn't bother me at all. I love Kate - so why would I not want to read more stories like it? And, I think, although there are similarities, it is different enough to be intriguing and totally addictive on it's own.
The slight downfall for me is that it doesn't adequately allow us to understand the feelings behind the words between Damon and Kit. It's written from first person POV which makes it doubly important that the reader have some means to understand why Damon is falling for her. But, we never get that. We have NO idea why he likes her and end up left to guess.
Still, the story is well worth the read - as long as one is willing to invest in the series. You won't be able to stop at one!

I think I may be at that point where I've read so many UF books that I'm starting to get bored with the same old same old UF themes. The bitchy, , mouthy, kick a$$ heroine. The mysterious, somewhat dull, love interest. Endless fighting between the were creatures and the vampires, and the humans against all of them. It wasn't that this was a bad book; it's just that I felt I'd read it before. Several times, in fact.
A few things bugged me in particular. The heroine was mouthy and brash in the extreme. Yes, she had a terrible childhood, but - to me - she acted like a pain in the butt teenager. This feeling was compounded by the fact that nearly everyone referred to her as 'little girl' or 'little warrior' or 'little whatever'. Right away, I was rolling my eyes at her. And although the story did get much better later on, I nearly stopped reading after the first chapter.
Another trouble spot was the extreme child abuse. Yes, it was a part of the heroine's past and kind of happened off camera, but still. I didn't think Kit's childhood needed to be *that* horrific. Finally, there was the 'romance' which came off as weird to me. (WARNING SPOILER ALERT) Kit never really fell in love, but she still allowed herself to be marked by the were creature and become his partner? That didn't seem at all right.
To me, this is was an average UF. No surprises, nothing new. Not bad, but not great, either.
Have you ever read Kate Daniels? you would know if you had or not because it would of Rocked Your Socks Right Off!!
Blade Song is like an almost as good adult version of Kate Daniels, now if you know me thats high praise. When i first consumed Kate Daniels i devoured all 5 books in almost 3 days, then i turned around and read them again. I have never done that before (good thing otherwise people may become concerned). Anyways this book is maybe half a star less worthy, so maybe 4 1/2 stars, which is good. It has some pretty smexy scene's and some fantastic characters, that Daemon fellow, Whew *fans face*.
I like how the two main characters fit together. Kit is undoubtedly the most screwed up character i have ever come across (that is saying a lot) and Daemon jut takes it and deals, its incredible. Dude is occasionally a butt at times but Kit puts him back in his place, plus she's pretty hilarious. i like my girls with snark!
I love hilarious heroines, who doesnt enjoy a good laugh?
The rest of the characters/world are really interesting as well. I'm very much looking forward to exploring more of them/it in the future, especially the witches! crazy women, gotta love it.
I also cant wait for Kit's family to make an appearance, you just know thats going to happen sooner or later. Mwahaha *rubs hands together in glee*
OH! and Daemon's issues!!! can't believe i forgot those! man is it messed up how excited i am over these terrible things that are bound to happen?? I suppose it's okay cause i know they'll (kit and Daemon) will win in the end.
