In an old book store in a quaint little town in rural New Hampshire, a spiral staircase leads to a small loft with a special section of books. The staircase is roped off, but Tim Jamieson becomes curious when he keeps seeing the same mysterious old man coming and going from the loft. Tim’s curiosity gets the best of him and he finally approaches the old man to ask him what kind of books are up in the loft. The old man tells Tim that he should forget about the loft. When Tim continues to question him, the old man tells Tim that his life may change drastically, if he does climb the stairway. Tim is too curious and he cannot heed the old man’s warning. Each book Tim reads from the special bookcase leads him down a path that may change his life forever. Tim must look deep inside himself to see if he is content to watch the world spin by while living his comfortable life or if he is courageous enough to do what he knows must be done. Will Tim surprise himself and learn that he is brave enough to step into the unknown? Note that this book is a series of stories within a story. The main story is about the unusual books that Tim reads and the even more unusual author. Each book Tim reads is presented here as its own unique story with its own setting and characters. The books Tim reads include stories about human trafficking, terrorism, disease epidemics and serial killers. The stories are tied together by Tim who must decide as he finishes each story, if he is going to become a character in the story or watch it unfold from the sidelines. This book contains sexual situations and is recommended for young adults.

I really wasn't going to pick this up, but then I read the author's blurb and thought it sounded interesting. Wow. Just wow. You start out as if you're someone else reading a story and then realize that's because you are. The main character finds books that somehow tell the future and decides to do something about them, particularly when one book is about a 15 yr. old taken to be a slave and her older sister wants to save her. This book is written with compassion as well as many twists and turns that make you want to continue to read. Some books I can put down for a couple days before picking back up, some I have to read through to the end as soon as possible because I have gotten so caught up in the magic. This book has everything. I look forward to more books by this author.

The Dead Passages Mr Dennis Butler 9781481927413 Books Reviews
Very unique book combining great suspense with a bit of the supernatural. Well conceived and original story line with a plot that moves along quickly. A must read and highly recommended!
Everyone should read this. The author should write a sequel. Realistic characters. Interesting stories. Exotic locations. I didn't want to put this book down.
It was really good. I personally feel that this book was very original. This book deserves a much better rating. I hope they keep making paranormal adventures like these.
The plot was epic, characters were very well portrayed and the adventures really interesting. This was totally worth it. It is a good starting point if you're new to paranormal adventures.
I typically do not read these type of books. Stories usually do not keep my attention for long.
This book was very interesting from the beginning. There are several stories within the book which makes it very intriguing. Since I typically read non fiction books. I didn't think I would get anything but entertainment from the stories. I was very surprised on the messages of the stories found within.
I recommend reading these various stories.
Well, I tried to finish this book in one sitting, but reluctantly bit the bullet just before sunrise with still a chapter and the epilogue to complete... An occult page turner that functions beautifully on many levels, there is the "curiosity that killed the cat," and almost killed the hero and heroine, adventure, suspense, intrigue, romantic interest, social conscience, questions answered by more questions, that keep you turning pages. I didn't find a dead spot in the book. It you're looking for a fascinating read. This is it! Highly recommended.
Well-written and compelling, this book takes the readers on a fascinating journey of intertwined stories, connected by the interpretation of the reader (Tim). I loved the premise of the reader being able to decide on the ending of each story -- that premise is both magical and very realistic. As readers, we decide how involved we get with the story and with its characters. Like Tim, we can choose to "jump into the story" or watch it unfold. The stories that Tim is reading (and we are experiencing with him) focus on a variety of different subjects, from human trafficking to terrorism to disease and other deep and interesting themes. Recommended!
The Dead Passages by Dennis Butler is a great read that I found very creative.
A wonderful idea where our main character finds books that are predictions. In his effort to find the author the adventure takes him through many different books where he finds love and murder and human trafficking and other stories that are full of intrigue.
I like how the author links the stories in the books to the main characters real life. In the end of each book he decides whether to become involved and help the characters in the book he has read and ultimately becomes the story in one of the books.
A book I would recommend for a unique experience and a book full of many other books within "The Dead Passages"
