Is one of the best review books you can find for this test.
I purchased the Students with Disabilities (060) Test book. I do like the book and how straight forward the material is. Table of contents is pretty clear. Really like the "How to overcome test anxiety" section. It would be more helpful to add more practice exams!
good review, alot of information, but poorly written, as others have mentioned, otherwise they would get 5 stars. All their review books are the same. I previously used 3 other of these (LAST, Bilingual Ed, Visual Arts) and did very well on the NYSTCE exams, the books helped. Follow the test-taking strategies, they really help.
This book covered special education in about 6 of it's 172 pages. there were a few pages on learning disabilities and 2 paragraphs on "mental retardation" which was not distinguished from developmental disabilities (as it has been professionally referred to as for several years). Also, there was no separation of Traumatic Brain Injury from it's "mental retardation" paragraphs. These are two separate disabilities which shows that this book is wildly inaccurate from the start.
Furthermore and MOST IMPORTANTLY MANY DISABILITIES WERE COMPLETELY OMITTED!!!
This book does not cover Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Emotional Disturbance, and many more. The rest of the book covered math and other topics that are useful on other exams such as the ATSW or the CST Multisubject.
Such a waste of time and money, this scam should be taken off of 's shelves!
Horrible study aid for nystce students with disabilities. There are no practice exams and contents too wordy. Not that helpful with reviewing and preparing for the test.
Helpful information but not for the exam...
Test was revised!!! The New York State Students with Disabilities Certification Exam was revised!!!!
The information and practice exercises in this book is based on the old exam. The new exam format is completely different and much more difficult.
For actual practice, see the NYSED site for study guides.
